Hunting for Nessie
18 May
Today we said a sad farewell to the family as we all left to go our separate ways. James and Jacquie are off to Isle of Skye, Daniel and Taylyn are off to her aunt's farm, Michael and Mackenzie are on their way home and Mom and I are off to hunt for the allusive Loch Ness Monster ;-) ;-)
It's an area that we never got to see on our first tour due to it being quite far north. We decided to take a detour to the Eilean Donan Castle. Whilst it is very beautiful it is not that old, being built in the early 20th century. We weren't keen on the costs to go in but took a fair amount of photos outside. It has been made famous through it's appearance in several movies. We had a light lunch at their cafe and were delighted to find some "Red Bush" tea, known to us in SA as good old Rooibos.
Driving through these amazing Scottish Highlands is such a treat as the scenery is just spectacular. High mountains on either side of the road make you feel completely enveloped in nature. We definitely felt the temperature change the further north we have come.
We then moved on to arrive at our backpackers lodge at Drumnadrochit along Loch Ness. Tomorrow we are hoping to do a full circle around this beautiful Loch and explore the area.
